Interview

  • What would you like your followers to know about you that is unique and even a bit personal?
I am also an HIV activist. Last year I went to Washington DC to share my story with congress and ask for funding for HIV services, housing and decriminalization. HIV stigma still exists. I visited San Francisco in 2010 and decided to make this my home. I never regretted that choice. I did experience homelessness and that motivated me to change our social structure, political system, and culture. I'm working on a research project to prioritize funding to help trans people who are currently homeless get safe housing.
  • If you and I were on the beach having some wine and great food, what would you tell me about yourself.
There are so many things to say. I am blessed to have a mom that demonstrated how to achieve goals no matter how poor we were. I am an sex worker rights activist currently working on decriminalization in San Francisco and California. I volunteered for two political campaigns in 2019 and both candidates won. This year I will continue to grow and take my leadership skill to a new level. My role model Jane Kim spoke about the importance of mental health and fighting for our values. I am following her advice and am optimistic about this year and the years to come.
  • What should others absolutely know about you?
I am extremely passionate and compassionate about helping people in need. I'm launching a startup to protect trans people and sex workers from violence and oppression.
  • What do you enjoy most about yourself?
I enjoy living my values of curiosity, courage, compassion, fun, and learning/wisdom. I love having fun so much that I can entertain myself. Of course I love playing with others.
  • Name 5 things that you can’t live without.
    1. I love eating foods that are sour and sweet. Passion fruit and grapefruit juice are like heaven to me.
    2. Erotic Dance & breakdancing. Tinashe and Aaliyah are two of my favorite artists.
    3. Music and singers that break barriers. RIP Selena and Michael Jackson.
    4. I'm addicted to community service. I volunteer with Saint James Infirmary and other bay area sex worker rights organizations.
    5. I love learning. I studied civil engineering in Miami. In 2019 I studied entrepreneurship, community organizing, leadership, and singing.
