Interview

  • If you have to pick one thing that everyone else should absolutely know about you, what would it be?
I'm pretty much an open book. What you see with me is what you get.
  • What are your hobbies? What do you like to do in your spare time?
In a perfect world I would paint and make pottery in my spare time.
  • How do you go that ‘extra mile' in your life?
I've run 7 marathons. I'm hoping to do another one this year. When I read this question, it reminds me of how I feel at Mile 19 and know that there are 7.2 miles to go. In life, I believe it's important to "stay in the room" even when challenges arise. The best friends I have are those with whom I've resolved significant challenges and have grown with.
  • What do you do for fun?
The normal stuff I suppose, is that I love going to movies and reading a good book. A nice slice of cake and good cup of coffee with a friend are great way to top off the day.
  • Tell us what you consider to be your greatest life experience.
This is an extremely difficult question to answer. I've had far too many amazing experiences to list here, and expect many more to eclipse them. That's sad, I once had a friend who lived to be 102 years old. When she was 101, she told me that I was the best friend she ever had. That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me, and coming from a woman who lived to be 101 was very gratifying.
  • What makes you stand out from the crowd?
People tend to tell me things that they don't tell other people. They will often say to me, "I've never told anyone that before."
  • What are your greatest personal traits?
I'm extremely compassionate and tend to the extremely trusting of others. While answering this question, I find it best to default to the comments others have made about my attributes. I generally hear that I am extremely enthusiastic, that I have a great sense of touch, and ironically that I am extremely sweet. I say ironically because it contrasts my exterior. On a side note, I have an exceptional sense of smell.
  • What is your ‘niche’?
I'm generally told that I am a daddy type, but after meeting me most guys say that I'm a big kid at heart.
  • How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or you are more of a homebody?
I don't travel enough... I love traveling. I'm on the road more than 30% of the time.
  • What kind of diet and fitness regiment do you follow?
Lots of protein shakes, low-carb, and low sugar. That said, a good junk food binge is always just around the corner :-) Want to join me?
  • What’s your lifestyle? What makes you who you are?
My favorite running shoe is Asics. It's no coincidence that Asics is an acronym derived from the Latin phrase, Anima Sana In Corpore Sano - a sound mind in a sound body.
  • What would you like your followers to know about you that is unique and even a bit personal?
I would tell them that when I read this question, "What would you like your readers know about you that is unique and even a bit personal?", the first thing I noticed was that "to" was missing from the sentence. I'm a stickler for detail.
  • If you and I were on the beach having some wine and great food, what would you tell me about yourself.
I would talk about all of the wonderful places that I've lived, share odd anecdotes, and tell you about my family.
  • What do you enjoy most about yourself?
I enjoy the compassion that I have for others and my naturally inquisitive nature.
  • What should others absolutely know about you?
    I'm sweeter than I look.
  • Name 5 things that you can’t live without.
    Diet Coke
    Jeffrey Archer's novels
    A huggy-pillow
    Protein Shakes
    NPR
