Interview

  • Tell us what you consider to be your greatest life experience.
As a health and fitness professional I am lucky enough to experience one of the best feelings in the world on a regular basis. That is when someone comes to you broken and depressed and 4-6 months later tell you that you gave them their life back. I tear up every time.
  • How do you go that ‘extra mile' in your life?
i have been told by nearly all of my clients that I am unlike anyone they have ever met.
  • What do you do for fun?
write thesis papers debunking "conventional wisdom" and it's approach to medicine, health, nutrition and fitness.
  • What are your hobbies? What do you like to do in your spare time?
weight lifting, taking my dogs to the park, working on my aquariums and learning as much as I can about as many topics as I can.
  • What makes you stand out from the crowd?
I offer the complete package. Good looks, a well built and toned body, professional "skills", punctuality, intelligence, class, and a caring attitude. I can get along with anyone.
Also, I don't own a TV, so I'm often reading and writing while the rest of America is glued to the current reality show flavor of the month.
  • What are your greatest personal traits?
Physically my abs and bubble butt. But overall I think my greatest attributes are my education and genuine personality. I want nothing more than to help people and make them healthy and happy.
  • What is your ‘niche’?
hairy muscle, on my way to being a daddy bear.
  • How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or you are more of a homebody?
My travel time varies dramatically from month to month. I do enjoy traveling though. I love exploring both nature and old architecture. I am available to travel anywhere as long as expenses are covered. Sometimes I will go on 2-3 trips in a month, other times 2-3 months will go by with no trips. When I am home though I do tend to be somewhat of a homebody. I do like to be home with my dogs.
  • What kind of diet and fitness regiment do you follow?
I follow a low carb, moderate protein, moderate fat Paleo diet and believe in a less is more approach to fitness. I encourage short duration, high intensity training to my clients.
2 years ago I would hop on my eliptical machine at 5 am every day for 45 minutes of hard intervals, have a shake, walk my dogs for 40 minutes, shower and eat, go to yoga class, come home eat and sleep, wake up and eat again then go weight train for 60-90 minutes, eat again, walk my dogs again for 40 minutes, shower, eat dinner and then suffer through massive carb cravings from my chronic cardio and over 3 hours of training every day.
These days I weight lift about 4 days a week for 45 minutes or so and try to get in at least 60 minutes of low intensity walking every day. I still do try to get to yoga class at least once a week. But, I'm getting the same results following this program with my paleo diet as I was 2 years ago when I was literally training all day every day eating a standard American diet. Diet determines 80% of body composition. Now that I am on the paleo diet and not doing excessive cardio, I no longer have the cravings for sugar and other processed crap food.
  • What would you like your followers to know about you that is unique and even a bit personal?
Deep down I have always been shy and insecure. It has only been the last 5-7 years or so that I came out of my shell, became more social and realized I have a lot to offer. I have gradually been building confidence since college, but I do need the occasional reassurance.
  • What’s your lifestyle? What makes you who you are?
I work as a personal trainer/nutritionist at a local gym and weight lifting is my main hobby. So I spend a lot of time at the gym. As with this work, I treat each of my personal training clients as if they were the only one. I spend a lot of time creating custom meal by meal plans and workout routines for clients. If I'm not at the gym, there are really only 3 places I'm likely to be: the dog park with my pups, at my best friend's house, or in my room smoking a bowl while watching historical documentaries on youtube, or reading the latest findings in medical journals. I love learning about all of history. From pre-human hominid evolution and interaction to early civilization, Rome the middle ages and into the Civil War era. Modern history doesn't interest me as much.
  • What should others absolutely know about you?
I like to schedule ahead and have a plan for a few days out.
  • If you and I were on the beach having some wine and great food, what would you tell me about yourself.
At 29 years old I have lived experiences of multiple lifetimes. When I tell my life story most people don't believe it. It is tale of many ups and downs, right angle turns, bad decisions, fresh starts, and pushing everything to the limit.
Ask me about it and I will gladly give the cliff notes. The full story would take a lifetime. Never a dull day!
  • What do you enjoy most about yourself?
I just really love helping people and making people happy. I get the most satisfaction out of knowing that I entertained someone, made them laugh, or just improved their day in some small way. I also enjoy exploring new fantasies, both my own and clients'.
  • Name 5 things that you can’t live without.
coffee, my dogs, internet, my phone, the gym
